A Legacy of Faith & Devotion

The Sacred Abode

Sri Sita Ramalayam is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Sri Sita Rama, nestled in the heart of Kallakuru Village, Sitaramapuram, Kalla Mandalam, West Godavari District, Andhra Pradesh. Originally established in 1910 by Sri Vegesna Soma Raju, the temple has stood as a beacon of faith and spiritual life for generations.

Sri Vegesna Soma Raju, guided by his vision that the village should flourish in the spirit of "Rama Rajya," constructed the temple by way of Vayu Pratishtha on his own land. The establishment of the temple became the spiritual center of the surrounding villages and significantly enhanced the prominence of the area.

A noble tradition evolved alongside the temple — an unwritten yet deeply respected principle that no visitor or devotee should leave without being offered food. This spirit of hospitality and devotion contributed greatly to the growing reverence for Sri Sita Ramalayam.

History & Heritage

The story of Sri Sita Ramalayam is the story of an extraordinary family's devotion — spanning over a century, built on faith, sacrifice, and an unwavering belief in Rama Rajya.

circa 1910
The Temple is Born

Sri Vegesna Soma Raju was born in a village near the historically renowned Kallakuru–Srirangarajapuram region. A firm believer that sincere effort and hard work lead to prosperity, he devoted himself to agricultural activity and community welfare. He named the settlement Sitarampuram, in recognition of the divine presence of Lord Rama and Sita.

Guided by his vision that the village should flourish in the spirit of "Rama Rajya," Sri Vegesna Soma Raju constructed Sri Sita Ramalayam by way of Vayu Pratishtha on his own land, using his personal resources. He had acquired approximately four acres of land, which at that time cost about ₹400, and established his residence on slightly elevated ground within the property.

After 1910
A Living Tradition of Hospitality

Along with the temple, a noble tradition evolved — an unwritten yet deeply respected principle that no visitor or devotee should leave the place without being offered food. This spirit of Annadanam and devotion contributed greatly to the growing reverence for Sri Sita Ramalayam, which soon became well known throughout the surrounding region.

1961
Renovation & Vayu Pratishtha

After the time of Sri Vegesna Soma Raju, his sons Sri Vegesna Suryanarayana Raju and Sri Vegesna Lachi Raju carried forward their father's legacy. In 1961, they undertook a significant renovation and enhancement of the temple, conducting a new Vayu Pratishtha. Subsequently, electricity and roads were formed abutting the temple, marking its growing importance in the community.

2008
Land Formally Dedicated to the Temple

Sri Vegesna Suryanarayana Raju and Sri Vegesna Lachi Raju executed a Registered Sale Deed (Document No. 50/2008, dated 11-01-2008) before the Sub-Registrar, Akivedu. Through this deed, land in Sy. No. 327/2 (44 cents) and Sy. No. 343/1 (12 cents), situated in Kallakuru Village, was formally conveyed to the Sri Seetharamaswamy Temple, evidencing a formal and documented dedication of property for the benefit of the temple.

2011
Testamentary Dedication by the Elders

Sri Vegesna Suryanarayana Raju Garu, then aged about 98 years, and Sri Vegesna Lachi Raju Garu, then aged about 93 years, executed separate Wills dated 21-05-2011. Through these Wills, they declared their intention to dedicate certain ancestral properties for the maintenance and continued functioning of the temple — a clear testamentary expression of intent by the elder custodians of the family tradition.

2026
Sri Sita Ramalayam Trust Established

In 2026, the legacy was formally institutionalised with the establishment of the "Sri Sita Ramalayam Trust, Kallakuru" — a Private, Irrevocable Trust governed under the Indian Trusts Act, 1882. The Trust is committed to the maintenance, renovation, and perpetual administration of the temple in accordance with Sanatana Dharma, ensuring the sacred legacy of the Vegesna family endures for generations to come.

Sri Sita Rama Kalyanam — A Living Tradition

One of the most cherished traditions of Sri Sita Ramalayam is the celebration of Sri Sita Rama Kalyanam on Sri Rama Navami. As per the custom followed by the family, the responsibility for conducting this important religious observance has been undertaken alternately in successive years by the descendants of the two branches — the lineage of Sri Vegesna Suryanarayana Raju Garu, and the lineage of Sri Vegesna Lachi Raju Garu. This living tradition continues to this day.
